'Tis the Season

It's like if Thanksgiving opens the gateway to the Christmas frenzy! The malls are busting at the seams, Christmas trees are riding on the roofs of everyone's cars and dogs become aggressive towards Santa hats {wait, maybe that's only my dog}.

Well, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. Time to whip out the Christmas decor! I thought I'd get a little crafty this year, so I decided to try my hand at this "simple" wreath Eddie Ross featured on his blog. Simple for who may I ask? Maybe those that are "crafty" per se. After about 20 shattered balls {get your mind out of the gutter people}, ten sticky fingers and a whole lot of frustration, I think I pulled it off.

Gimme a break, I know you can see a bit of of the hanger, but there's only so much a human can take without going crazy and slamming the wreath against the wall {excuse me a second while I compose myself}...

At least from far it looks fantastic!

On another note, while I inside cursing Martha Stewart, Eddie Ross and all of those "crafty" gurus we know and love, Mr. P was outside doing this {and I'm sure doing a little cursing himself}.

Absolutely fabulous!

Merry Christmas to all!

What a difference!

...WOW...

I was browsing through some old pictures and came across these of my family room when we first moved in. I'm totally in love with the dark plum on the walls, but what was I thinking with the brown leather couches? No offense to brown leather couches, or owners of such, I just really dislike them.

One word: SWEATY.

Needless to say, we got rid of the brown leather couches and replaced them with these yummy and cozy white ones.

Maybe I should have kept the plum and just changed out the couches.Family Room

Oh well, I do love the openness and airiness this room now has.

I've also noticed that my decor style has changed dramatically since I started blogging and reading all those fabulous decor blogs out there.

Thanks for teaching me a few skills ladies {and gents}!

I so did...

Or should I say...THEY so did.

Snuggie for DOGS.

That's right people. As if this wasn't bad enough.

They now have this.

So, I just had to. And I did.

God bless my little dog.
I personally think he should be the cover model for Snuggie.

All the rage.

Is it me or are these little cuties showing up on blogs everywhere? Am I late to the game?
I first spotted them on Paloma's beautiful bookcase and instantly fell in love. Then, Adventures in Renovating a Brooklyn Limestone posted them as wonderful idea for holiday gifting. Even Design Sponge featured them back in August {she must've known something I didn't}.

One problem. They seemed to be selling only in the UK, for a pretty penny, plus shipping. Well, last night as I was flipping through my new crisp issue of Lucky Magazine, what do I see? You guessed it... the Penguin Cloth Bound Classics {and the site where to find them}. Yes ladies, it's as easy as going over to Borders.com. Actually, I take that back, it's not that easy. I couldn't find them at Borders! So, this morning with a little google action, I found them on Amazon...AND added them quickly to my Christmas wish list.

You can find them here. Happy shopping!!

P.S. If you already knew this, I apologize, I'm a little behind on the times.

2 things.

One- I've been such a slacker I completely forgot to show you guys my finished chalkboard. Remember this post? Well here is the finished product.

This space of course, is not completely finished {the story of my life}. My intentions are to eventually cover the exposed and unused socket and hang a rotary phone on the wall. Maybe something like this:

...and two- I forgot to mention that Machy has had his five minutes of fame. Check him out over at Desire to Inspire{he's the last one}.

Oh, the possibilities...

Hello stalkers-

How I've missed you so. I've been crazy busy with little time to dedicate to this blog but, I'm back and today I've come to share this beauty I found while browsing Craigslist.

I am so tempted to buy this gorgeous headboard, spray paint it white {without removing the lovely green velvet fabric of course} and place it in my guest room.

Am I crazy? Is it totally tacky or do you guys see the potential?
Regardless, it's not coming home with me at $500, but it's nice to dream.

If you're willing to take the chance, you can find it here .

Weekend Project

This weekend we started on a little project. By "we" I mean, Machy and I {although he doesn't look like he'd be much help sleeping on the batting}.
While Mr. P was outside beautifying our landscape {more on that soon}, I was inside tackling the headboard project. I found a wonderful and very descriptive tutorial on how to make this fabulous headboard here .

The tutorial even included a stencil for the shape of the headboard. I couldn't blow up the stencil large enough for the size I wanted so, I just eyeballed it.
Before I committed to cutting and sawing the plywood, I thought it would be a good idea to see if I loved the way it would look.

I did, I did!

So I went head and cut the fabric as well.

Unfortunately I don't have the finished product yet because it's a lot harder to shape plywood than I thought. I need some "manly" help {are you listening hubby and father?}

Hopefully I will have something to show you soon. I'm very excited!
